Willie Mae Oyogoa

State House District 44

About Willie Mae Oyogoa (She/Her):

Willie Mae Oyogoa grew up in a small town in South Carolina where it was uncommon, and often unsafe, for African Americans to register to vote. Willie Mae’s mother broke the norm when she decided to register to vote, sparking a movement that led many others in her community to do the same. With voter suppression bills like SB 202 turning the clock back, Willie Mae decided to run for office to follow in her mother’s footsteps and do her best to create change.
