Field Organizer

The Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF), a 501(c)(4) organization, is currently seeking an experienced FIELD ORGANIZER to join its team as it prepares for the upcoming 2020 Election Cycle. The FIELD ORGANIZER will report directly to the Program Director and will coordinate with other AAAF staff to plan, organize and implement comprehensive community engagement programs geared toward promoting campaigns, candidates, and causes dedicated to uniting Asian Americans for a more progressive Southeast and who believe in a region that values the rights of all people, regardless of race, national origin, religion, creed, or immigration status.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement field plan with the support of the Program Director by recruiting and training volunteers and canvassers and monitoring progress along the way
  • Organize Asian American communities through various events, educational opportunities, and ethnic-specific outreach
  • Establish relationships and coordinate with key campaign partners, including, but not limited to representatives of other community organizations
  • Coordinate activities and events that support campaign goals and outreach
  • Maintain a database of community supporters and volunteers
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Experience and Skills

  • A minimum of ONE (1) year of field organizing or canvassing experience with either an advocacy group or political campaign; volunteer work is also considered
  • Familiarity with NGP VAN and the associated MiniVAN mobile app is preferred
  • Ability to speak an Asian language is preferred, but not required
  • Strong computer, public speaking and written communication skills, including a grasp of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as familiarity with data/list management
  • Dependable, detail-oriented and well organized – able to multi-task, meet deadlines and adapt to the changing priorities of the campaign
  • Candidates should be comfortable with walking for extended periods of time

Required for Consideration

  • Because of the nature of this position, candidates must possess or have access to a reliable means of transportation

Position Type and Salary

Field Organizer is a Full-Time, temporary position (one year in length) that is eligible to receive benefits (e.g., health insurance including dental and vision, personal time, paid holidays, etc.). The salary for the position is commensurate upon the candidate’s experience. The estimated start date is January 6, 2020, and the end date is estimated as January 31st, 2021. Dates are flexible.

Canvassers (2020)

The Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF) is seeking Canvassers to join our team for the upcoming 2020 Federal, State, and Local Election Cycles. The AAAF is a 501(c)(4) organization that unites Asian Americans for a more progressive Southeast who believes in a region that values the rights of all people, regardless of race, national origin, religion, creed, or immigration status. Canvassers for AAAF will focus on engaging Asian Americans and other previously underrepresented communities in the Northern Metro Atlanta area (Gwinnett, Cobb, Dekalb, and Fulton counties).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement – Canvassers are expected to actively engage with members of the local community to encourage civic participation and provide information related to AAAF campaigns and projects, primarily, through in-person, door-to-door interactions.
  • Data Entry – Canvassers are expected to maintain accurate, current, and detailed data relating to individual community engagements and entering the collected information into our database via NGP VAN.

Preferred Experiences and Skills

  • Previous door-to-door canvassing experience for either an advocacy group or political campaign
  • Familiarity with using NGP VAN and the associated MiniVAN mobile app
  • The ability to speak an Asian language is a plus

Required for Consideration

  • Canvassers should be comfortable walking for extended periods of time
  • Canvassers must able to provide their own transportation to and from canvassing locations

Position Type and Wages

The position of Canvasser is a Part-Time, Temporary with a wage of $15 per Hour.
